Evolution explores an ancient yet constantly renewed issue: how humans can repair, transform, strengthen or find replacement for their bodies with the help of technology. Sun’s images do not directly present the human body, but instead focus on places and equipment that are used to intervene and modify the body, showing a rapid evolutionary process brought about not by natural selection but by technology advancements. These processes appear in hospitals, laboratories and rehabilitation centres, and are largely focused on the manufacturing and development of exoskeleton and prosthesis.
Evolution is essentially focused on the people who are absent. The calm, objective, detailed images are devoid of humans offering the empty space they’d occupy to the viewer.
