“With photography as the granddaddy of so much visual content being created in the 21st century, it’s thrilling to have PHOTOFAIRS New York premiere at the Javits Center to bring more cutting edge conceptual and experimental practices to the art fair calendar. As a gallery representing a broad range of artistic practices, it’s so important to have fairs that cater to specific niches and deliver the interested collectors, especially for fields such as film, new media, digital work and other photo based genres.” -Amanda Coulson, TERN Gallery
Applications to PHOTOFAIRS New York are open to galleries that have a permanent exhibition space and hold regular curated exhibitions with a roster of represented artists.
Private dealers are welcome to apply if they have been in business for ten years or more and produce at least two exhibitions a year, which can be online, at an art fair or at an ancillary space.
Selection for participation is based on (but not limited to) curatorial strength and premise of the gallery’s application proposal, the quality of artworks, previous art fair presentations and any associated projects undertaken by the gallery. Fulfilling these criteria is central to a successful application.
