Jil Weinstock | Unwanted Collaborator: Fractured Landscapes
Winston Wächter, New York
On view until March 9
In these unconventional collages and illuminated pieces of mixed-media work, Jil Weinstock mixes photography, plants encased in rubber, embroidery thread, as well as fabric, to explore the fragility and resilience found in the natural world, especially when faced with disruptive forces. The photographs, encased plants, and embroidery appear as seemingly disjointed elements that together transform and adapt to create a cohesive piece.
Frank Ockenfels 3: Introspection
Fotografiska, New York
On view until March 9
Introspection surveys the artist’s career across different sections, each one tied to the next through displays of Ockenfels’ journals, which he made to document his various projects. In this exhibition, new photographic works are combined with unique, original pieces, where photography is not at the center. His creative treatment of his photographs transforms them from portraits of individual people into a reflection of himself and his inner world.
